The Center for Africana Studies and Culture (CASC) is partnered with the Urban Legacies and Lands Initiative (ULLI) to assist with a Mellon-funded project. Over the next three years (2022-2025), CASC and ULLI will create a new type of nonprofit community development corporation – a Cultural Heritage Development Corporation (CHDC) – that centers Black cultural heritage in historic revitalization, real estate development, and placemaking. CASC will oversee the Heritage and Humanities Scholars Program and a suite of public-facing cultural programs in support of ULLI’s work.
