Political Science Minor

Make yourself more marketable and more knowledgeable

Getting a minor in political science lets you pursue your passion, expand your mind, and gain the marketable skills employers are looking for. You only need 15 hours in political science classes to qualify, with a grade of C or better in each, and at least six of those hours should be taken at IU Indianapolis. Those 15 hours are made up of the following core courses and electives.

Core Courses

Complete two of the following:

  • POLS-Y103: Introduction to American Politics (3 hours)
  • POLS-Y213: Introduction to Public Policy (3 hours)
  • POLS-Y215: Introduction to Political Theory (3 hours)
  • POLS-Y217: Introduction to Comparative Politics (3 hours)
  • POLS-Y219: Introduction to International Relations (3 hours)

Electives

Complete any three other Political Science courses, two of which must be 300- or 400-level courses. The third elective may come from the list of Core Courses.
