A variety of study and immersion abroad programs are available for all languages taught in the Department of World Languages and Cultures. Study abroad programs range from week-long to year-long programs and are administered by the Department of World Languages and Cultures.

Our Programs

Sustaining the World Peace

This course is designed for students to experience Japanese peacebuilding activities, learn the meaning of peace in Japanese culture and society, and make a lasting contribution to peacebuilding. Our focus of peacebuilding is free from wars; however, we recognize that the problem is systematic. This is the reason that UN Sustainable Development Goals is our other focus. Students will visit Kyoto, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Tokyo in terms of a multidisciplinary perspective.

Japanese Health Care Professions Program

Experience a short two-week summer programs in Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima, Japan. Students will be immersed in Japanese culture while exploring in depth its communication and cultural patterns, and, in particular, the Japanese health care system. While in Japan, students will receive an orientation and will visit the historic cities Kyoto and Hiroshima during a three-day field trip.

Japanese Language and Culture – Hakuoh University

Study a semester or academic year of Japanese language and culture studies at Hakuoh University, a small, private coed university with about 4,000 students located in the city of Oyama, about one hour north of Tokyo.

Japanese Language and Culture – Tsuda University

Study a spring semester or academic year of Japanese language and culture studies at Tsuda University, a private liberal arts university for women with a history more than one hundred ten years. The main campus is conveniently located in the suburbs of Tokyo.
