What is a Paralegal?

“A paralegal is a person, qualified by education, training or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible.” –American Bar Association as Adopted by the ABA House of Delegates, 2020.

Welcome to Paralegal Studies at IU’s School of Liberal Arts! Faculty is comprised of active and licensed attorneys from a variety of practice areas, all here to provide the fullest scholastic experience and prepare you for today’s work environment. We offer the only paralegal program in Indianapolis approved by the American Bar Association with multiple courses of study:

Our program is a face-to-face program offered on our campus in downtown Indianapolis.  We offer flexible class times, with many evening and online options.  Begin your studies during any semester – just apply to IU Indianapolis.
