Internships are a beneficial way of gaining real world experience while continuing to work on your education. You will work in the fast-paced sports environment, learn professional skills, and make important connections that could further your success in the field. Internships give you the opportunity to add to your resume so that you’re ready for the job market after graduation.
We highly recommend taking advantage of the many internships available to you while on campus. Downtown Indianapolis is a hotspot of sports activity, so you don’t want to miss a beat.
IU Indianapolis students have served as interns at the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League, the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the National Federation of State High School Associations, among other organizations near the campus in downtown Indianapolis. The internships are a central feature in a program of 30 credit hours that combines specialized course work with practical experience. The courses reflect recent advances in a rapidly-evolving industry that requires storytelling skills in print, broadcast and digital journalism across multiple platforms. The degree requirements can be completed within one year and do not include a thesis.
