Indy Toxic Heritage: Pollution, Place, and Power – Exhibit is now open in the stunning lobby of the Holliday Park Nature Center, January 25- March 29, 2025. The exhibit explores how environmental harm and advocacy for justice are part of our citywide past, present, and future. With support from the Bantz Community Fellowship and IN Humanities, Profs. Laura Holzman and Elizabeth Kryder-Reid, along with Ben Clark (American Studies PhD student), Kay Hawthorne (community-based scholar and activist), worked with Indy Parks & Recreation, the Kheprw Institute, and other community advisors to gather community-centered stories that speak to Indianapolis’ heritage of pollution, amplify the voices of those working for environmental justices, and provoke conversations about a more just and sustainable future.
