Associate Professor of Sociology Andrew Whitehead appears as a featured voice in a new documentary on Christian nationalism titled GOD & COUNTRY. The film opens in theaters nationwide–including Indianapolis–on Friday, February 16. GOD & COUNTRY takes a closer look at the dangerous implications and explores how a base of Christians has radically stoked a movement erasing the line between Church and State. Directed by Dan Partland and produced by Rob Reiner, the New York Times writes, “The film’s format can be blunt, cutting between unsettling talking head interviews and clips of crowds cheering on Christian leaders at politically charged events or conservative politicians making brash proclamations. But rather than come off solely as a grim forecast, the film presents possible alternatives for the country, most notably from the Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II, the minister and social activist who offers a voice of hope and inclusivity that feels genuinely healing.” Click here to learn more about the film.
