Congratulations Dr. Aniruddha (Rudy) Banerjee, Geography at IU Indianapolis, for being awarded a US Patent for Methods And Systems Providing Aerial Transport Network Infrastructures For Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. Click here to learn more!
- Abstract: SKYDOS creates a comprehensive retail delivery ecosystem with security protocols imitating a century old, reality-tested and fine-tuned robust model, the current street traffic management system. This provides the foundation for development of a sophisticated transportation planning and engineering solution for drone delivery services.
- Benefit: Decreased delivery vehicle traffic means cities will lose a massive road tax base when deliveries move to the sky. To offset this loss, local government can auction off limiting license/rights + oversight of safety (e.g., emulate traffic enforcement in the sky).
Market Application: SKYDOS provides a software + hardware ecosystem for smooth profitable last mile delivery. Several paradigmatic shifts need to occur to make drone delivery a reality, such as “pipes in the sky” drone routes for network-based routing using existing street network.
