After a two year delay, the unrecognized Republic of Somaliland held presidential and political party elections on November 13, 2024. The elections led to the defeat of the incumbent president and the emergence of a new political party. IU Indianapolis Professor of Political Science Dr. Scott Pegg who served as an international election observer for Somaliland’s 2017 presidential election and its 2021 parliamentary and local council elections recently published a blog about the 2024 elections for the De Facto States Research Unit at the University of Tartu, Estonia.
