Drs. Jennifer Bute and Maria Brann, Department of Communicaiton Studies at Indiana University-Indianapolis, recently presented a live webinar for the Institute of Reproductive Grief Care’s “Research Reveals” series to discuss their groundbreaking research on a novel reproductive grief screening tool, which according to an MSN article, has the potential to “reshape mental health treatment, open conversations about loss.” According to Dr. Michaelene Fredenburg, President and CEO of the Institute, “Grief after reproductive loss is underestimated in our culture and often undetected by healthcare professionals.” Therefore, Drs. Bute and Brann, along with other doctors and researchers, created (and are currently refining) a reproductive grief screening tool that quickly and systemically identifies grief after reproductive loss as part of the healthcare process. Fredenburg emphasized, “The discussion offered insights into this novel reproductive grief screening tool and the significant role that it can play in identifying patients who struggle with ongoing, complicated grief after pregnancy loss.” Click here to Watch on Demand: “Identifying Ignored Grief” Click here to Read about the research: “There’s no time limit on grief:” Women’s perspectives on a novel reproductive grief screening tool”. |
