Indiana University-Indianapolis English Professor Stephen Fox, with the assistance of Senior Lecturer Mary Ann Cohen, manages the Hoosier Writing Project! For the 14th year, this project which is a site of the National Writing Project, partnered with other community members to host the Central and Southern Indiana Region of the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. In 2024, our region received over 1,850 submissions and gave over 670 awards to young writers and artists in grades 7-12. Award-winning students were honored in March at the Regional Visions and Voices Awards Ceremony at Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis. Gold Key writing, illustrated with selected Gold Key art, was published in an anthology edited by the editors of genesis, the IU Indianapolis literary magazine. Gold Key art was exhibited in venues around the metro area, with the final exhibit scheduled for the Central branch of Indianapolis Public Library in November.
