Associate Director, Katherine Brinkmeyer, Program for Intensive English (PIE), IU School of Liberal Arts

Indiana University-Indianapolis English Lecturer Katherine (Kate) Brinkmeyer received the “Best of the Best” in Adult ELL Education Award from the Indiana Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (INTESOL).

This award is reserved for exceptional INTESOL teachers. As one of her nominator’s for the awarded noted:  “As a teacher, Kate is exceptional at supporting students struggling to understand not only English but American academic culture. Kate became the Special Programs Coordinator for the PIE to plan, run, and evaluate special programs for international students. Since July 2022, she has served as the Associate Director for the PIE. In that role, she’s highly regarded as an effective leader and mentor who gives constructive feedback in a way that respects teachers’ strengths while helping them grow professionally. She is dedicated, kind, and genuine. She ensures that the program’s curriculum, teaching, and special programs are of the highest quality.”
