Events for Africana Studies Students

As an Africana Studies student, you have a wide variety of events in which you can participate. Here are a few of the options.

MLK Celebration Dinner

Chloe Coy photoAfricana Studies students celebrate in huge ways as they participate in the longest-running celebration honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. With an MLK Celebration Dinner. Africana Studies students are often sponsored by others, so they may enjoy the meal, be inspired by the nationally recognized speaker and celebrate with classmates when the outstanding student award is presented.

Joseph T. Taylor Symposium

The Joseph T. Taylor Symposium at Indiana University Indianapolis features a keynote speaker by local and national experts around issues of interest in urban America and among communities of color. Africana Studies students are granted a table at the event to share a meal together and hear an inspirational keynote speaker.
