What Studying French Did for Me?
Professionally, because of the French language skills gained from courses at IU Indianapolis and my study abroad experience at Aix-en-Provence, I am able to use the language both in personal and business settings. From managing development projects in Washington D.C to traveling to Dakar and Ouagadougou working with vulnerable populations, my French language skill is helping me make a positive impact in the World.
Personally, I have been able to connect with and build strong lasting friendships with other French-speaking students at IU Indianapolis. Also, I have been able to incorporate my French-speaking ability into my everyday life – whether it is saying “bonjour” to the store owner at my local African store, or explaining a French word to my young curious nephew – studying French has truly been rewarding for me, on all levels.
