Experiences abroad give you the opportunity to interact with people of different cultural backgrounds and enhance your employment opportunities.
The Program in French sponsors a 3-week summer program in Aix-en-Provence for students who have successfully completed at least second semester French 132. This is a great program for intermediate and advanced language learners, and we welcome students majoring in all academic disciplines – not just French!
Students may also participate in IU study abroad programs that include year-long programs at the Université d’Aix-in-Provence and the Université de Nantes that are open to juniors and seniors who have had three years of college French, as well as one-semester programs at the Université de Rennes and the Université d’Aix. Also for students with two years of college French, there is a summer program in Paris, France, that can be combined with an internship.
Students with at least one year (two semesters) of college-level French may also participate in a summer program in Québec, Canada, or Dakar, Senegal.
Located on the Aix Campus of Aix-Marseille Universite, this program focuses on French language instruction in Aix-en-Provence, France, with the Service Universitaire de Français Langue Etrangère (SUFLE). Students will spend four weeks taking courses in French with SUFLE and enjoying field trips and cultural events. Read more.
Study abroad programs range from week-long to year-long programs and are administered by the Department of World Languages and Cultures and its individual programs. We collaborate with the IUI Office of International Affairs and the IU Office of Overseas Study in Bloomington in providing programs of all kinds to suit your needs and goals.
