    Director of Academic and Career Advising
    Samantha Walters launched her advising career at IUPUI in August 2006. She joined the Journalism staff in November 2013 as director of advising services. Her prior IUPUI experience includes serving as a senior academic adviser in University College. She advised first and second year students on course planning, goal setting, and academic and career development. She creates partnerships with students to foster independence and empower them to become active in their decision making processes.

Anneka is a collaborative, action-oriented, community servant who demonstrates strong student advocacy through a positive attitude of approachability, adaptability, and the desire to identify and support student success. Anneka is a first-generation, covid-class graduate of IUPUI School of Liberal Arts in May 2020, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a minor in Religious Studies. She is currently a student in the IUPUI Applied Communication Master’s program. She is passionate about creating change in the world through the lens of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Anneka enjoys coffee, reading, and spending time with her pet dog-cow-horse named Novi.
