The Department of History in the IU School of Liberal Arts in Indianapolis is home to nationally and internationally recognized scholars devoted to quality teaching and community-engaged scholarship. Our courses offer students the opportunity to explore the rich, diverse, and complex stories of our pasts–and, in the process, develop skills in research and interpretation, communication, project management, and the digital humanities. The department has long been a center for public history, and our campus proudly serves as home to the National Council on Public History.
