Are you interested in archiving, library sciences, or Arab American history? The Arabic Studies Program is pleased to present this opportunity: a paid internship to learn how to create a digital archive while also recovering a lost history of Arab people in the Midwest!
You will work with Anna Proctor of the IU University Library to digitize the collection of the Midwest Federation of Syrian and Lebanese Clubs. The National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C., holds the collections for the Eastern and Southern Federations. But IU Indianapolis will be the first to create an open-access, digital version of the Midwest Federation. You will earn a wage while also learning how to process, scan, upload, and provide metadata for a digital collection.
The only catch is: it’s a little tricky to apply if you have not used the university’s job placement software called Handshake. Here is where you log in to do so:

Then, choose Job #9189800. Having trouble? Write to ecurtis4@iu.edu.
