Museums in Uncertain Times: Institutions, DEI, and the Road Ahead
Session 1 of a two-part series. In this hour-long conversation, speakers Veda Ajamu (Chief Engagement Officer at the National Civil Rights Museum) and Marissa Ulie (Training and Professional Development Assistant at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis) will join the Museum Colloquium class for a conversation about museums and how they are responding to DEI backlash, the recent executive orders, and other large scope issues facing museums in 2025.

Museums in Uncertain Times: The Resilience of Museum Professionals
Session 2 of a two-part series. In this hour-long conversation, three speakers, including two Museum Studies alums, will highlight the ways in which museum professionals are responding to these turbulent times. Speakers include Adrienne Nirde, MA’15 (Director of NC African American Heritage Commission), Brandie Macdonald (Executive Director of IU Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology), and Elizabeth Bostelman, MA’18 (Community Engagement Manager at Jamestown Settlement). They will be providing tools and insights on how to stay positive and focus on the important work that is being done in museums.

Internship Lightning Rounds
Museum studies students have been diligently working at their internships at museums across Central Indiana. Throughout these internships, they have each been investigating a professional practice research question designed to support the work of their internship sites. These lightning round presentations will showcase their research and findings.
