Bio

Biography

Marilee Brooks-Gillies is an Associate Professor of English and the former Director of the University Writing Center (2015-2022) at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Her scholarship is situated within cultural rhetorics and focuses on antiracist and decolonial pedagogy and place-making in communities of practice. Her work has been published in Praxis, the Journal of Multimodal Rhetorics, The Peer Review, and enculturation. She is an editor of Graduate Writing Across the Disciplines as well as special issues of Across the Disciplines and Harlot. She has book chapters in the edited collections Linguistic Justice on Campus, Emotions and Affect in the Writing Center, and Writing Centers and Racial Justice. She currently serves as President of the East Central Writing Centers Association and on the IWCA Inclusion and Social Justice Task Force.
