“The work that I did within the WGSS program ultimately shaped my future research pursuits at the graduate level. I was fortunate enough to complete an independent study under Dr. Catherine Dobris my final undergraduate semester, and it was within this work that I felt truly passionate about the research I was conducting. In my time spent in the WGSS program, I explored topics related to feminist rhetoric, self-image, intersectionalism, the male gaze, media representation, etc. As a current MA student, I plan to extend these studies to explore the gender data gap within healthcare, women’s mental health, and sexual education in the United States.”
“Come with an open mind and go deeper. Before beginning my education in WGSS, I was aware of the pervasiveness of sexism in our country. However, I was not equipped with the proper knowledge and tools necessary to understand such issues on a deeper level. Likewise, I never thought I could make a change. Now, I see that so can be a part of that change— knowledge is power. Always come prepared to learn something new!”
Chloe majored in communication studies and minored in professional writing and WGSS.
