“I was a single mother, going back to college when my youngest was at Rose Hulman. Life would have been much simpler had I been financially able to purchase my own computer, especially for GPS classes, etc. Instead, I had to rely on lab computers. The geography lab had three or four computers that were continually in use and the regular computer lab had super assistants who were unfamiliar with what was ‘new’ in GPS.
Of course, laptops are much more affordable now, but I just want to help lessen the financial burden most geography majors are facing in this day and age. Truthfully, I think that the medical field might be the only other field that can top what one learns and what a graduate is capable of accomplishing through the field of geography; thus, it is a thrill to help in this small way.”
