At IU Indianapolis, you can get involved in organizations within your School, such as PRSSA, Liberal Arts Student Council, or the genesis literary & art magazine, to strengthen your bond with classmates and learn more about your major.

Seek out other on-campus clubs so you can connect with peers, professors, and staff members outside your major, and add well-rounded experience to your resume. Check for positions in public relations, marketing, or communications within these groups.

MackenzieTaylor image“I was involved with Jagathon, IUI’s dance marathon fundraiser for Riley Hospital for Children, for three years. My senior year, I was director of high school dance marathons. I was responsible for communications with IU Indianapolis administration and with outside organizations, including high school teachers and advisors, which was great practice for working in a professional environment.

Students who serve on the Jagathon marketing committee get a lot of experience in social media writing and analytics. There are about 20 committees that students can serve on, so there are many different ways to get involved.” – Mackenzie Taylor, ’20 Liberal Arts graduate (Certificate in Public Relations, Advertising Minor)
