The General Studies program at IU Indianapolis can trace its origin to 1975 when the School of Continuing Studies was created, reflecting the commitment of Indiana University and the state government to meeting the educational needs of adult citizens. In 2014, the program moved to the IU School of Liberal Arts in Indianapolis in partnership with the Center for Transfer and Adult Learners.
