The Department of Journalism and Public Relations released the third episode of the Jim Brown Interview Series this week. The series is named in honor and appreciation of Brown, who served as executive associate dean of journalism at IUPUI for 28 years.
Camryn Daniels, a junior studying public relations, recently sat down with Kate Guerra, who is the vice president of marketing and communications at NFL team the Tennessee Titans, for this episode. Guerra graduated with her Master’s in Sports Journalism from IUPUI in 2010. She spent eight years at IndyCar before moving to the Titans.
Guerra described her work as team publicist for the Titans, and how an IUPUI professor’s advice helped her land an internship that led her on a path to a public relations career.
“In my eyes, straight out of grad school I felt like I’d landed my dream job,” she said. “I felt very fortunate.”
The goal of the series is to help current students connect with and learn from alumni, and to give the interviewer an additional highlight to their resume or reel.
