Students from the Sports Capital Journalism Program at IUPUI will cover the NCAA tournament for NCAA.com and the program’s website. Four of the seven are working toward a M.A. in Sports Journalism and three are undergraduates.
Meet the students:
Alex Burr, Master of Arts in Sports Journalism student
“This is going to be one of the trickiest NCAA tournaments to cover, but if I perform well, this experience will be incredibly beneficial to my future.”
David Hayden, Master of Arts in Sports Journalism student
“I’m looking forward to bettering myself with every game I cover. This opportunity means everything to me.”
Owen Kaelble, Master of Arts in Sports Journalism student
“These games will give me experience in writing on deadline. I’ll be forced to be concise and that will help me in the future.”
Caleb Lynn, Senior
“Covering this tournament is going to help me mentally as a journalist. Being prepared and adjusting on the fly is crucial. I look forward to learning in a fast-paced environment.”
Jordan Morey, Master of Arts in Sports Journalism student
“Only so much can be seen and heard from your couch. I look forward to providing fans who aren’t able to attend games a snapshot of what’s going on through my writing.”
Nicole Reitz, Junior
“Most of the games are back-to-back, so it will be a challenge finishing one story before the next game begins. I feel prepared because I’ve learned in class to be a fast, concise writer.”
Devin Voss, Senior
“Covering these games will showcase the skills I’ve developed over the course of my college career during one of the largest events in the United States.”
