Sarah Lounsbury, a senior in the Department of Journalism and Public Relations, will serve as president of IUPUI’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) for the 2021-2022 academic year. Lounsbury told us about her plans and goals for PRSSA this year:
“I’ve been very involved in PRSSA since my sophomore year of college. I started off as a member and then upgraded to vice president of fundraising and events in Fall 2020. In Spring 2021, I served as vice president and this year I’m very excited to finally be serving as president.
As president, I am looking forward to completely rebranding the student organization. I feel like PRSSA is viewed as a club exclusively for public relations students, which isn’t the case. Public relations, communications, journalism, and marketing are all interconnected so I would like to get more students involved across different majors.
In addition, I would like to have more in-person functions, as much as public health measures will allow. I want our chapter to feel like family while also serving as a place where one can further themselves professionally and personally.
One of my goals as president this year is to host a networking event where past IUPUI PRSSA members and their colleagues can gather to meet with our current members to help them further their network and prepare them for professional life after college.”
