The Department of Journalism and Public Relations has released the final Jim Brown Interview Series episode of the 2021-2022 academic year. In this sixth installment, senior Sarah Lounsbury interviewed alumna Niki Smithers, a corporate communications associate at Eli Lilly.

Smithers, a 2019 graduate, had wanted to work at Lilly since before she started college. Listen in as she explains how she landed her dream job.

Lounsbury and Smithers also discuss connections from internships, a common dislike for math, how to differentiate yourself in the interview process, and more.

The Department launched the Jim Brown Interview Series in October 2021. The series features a current student interviewing a successful alumnus and is named in honor and appreciation of Jim Brown, who served as executive associate dean of journalism at IUPUI for 28 years.
