Salman, Saudi Arabia

Below is Salman’s #myPIEstory. Salman gained conditional admission to the IUPUI O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA). He began studying at the Program for Intensive English before his degree, in order to improve his English and gain the necessary English proficiency requirement to begin his Master’s degree at SPEA.

My name is Salman. I’m from the Middle East, namely, Saudi Arabia. I crossed over six thousand miles to pursue my graduate study at IUPUI. The SPEA School Master of Public Affairs program required me English Proficiency Proof which I wouldn’t have had within six months if I didn’t enroll in Program for Intensive English (PIE).

The PIE program was conducted in a wonderful environment with modern technology that helped me progress in three main areas of English language learning, Speaking & Listening, Writing & Reading, and Structure in Use [Grammar]. I had to do a lot of work to pass Level 7, which was the level that met my school’s English requirement. Yes, a lot of work but a lot was learned (No pain, No gain!). Every teacher has his/her own teaching style to convey language knowledge and I enjoyed most of the teaching styles at PIE.

What I like the most about PIE was PIE’s administration. They were kind, collaborative, and most importantly, professional. They supported me with almost everything I needed before, within, and after the program. They helped me with housing, transportation, driving license, etc. They help, follow up, and care, if that were the only one takeaway from PIE, it would have been quite enough for me.

Today, I’m progressing in the second semester of my Master of Public Affairs program at IUPUI, O’Neill’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs. I’m happy being IUPUI student and a PIE family member.

Thanks, and gratitude to the PIE team.
