B-2 Students

Studying English while visiting the USA

You may take classes in our program while you are in Indianapolis on a B-2 visitor visa. Your study must be incidental to your main purpose for being in the U.S.
That means your main purpose should be to visit or be a tourist, and you are just taking classes for enrichment.

  • Visitors on a B1/B2 visa can study full-time (for 1 session only) or part-time (for 2 sessions).
  • Visitors can start at the beginning of any session – we have sessions starting in January, March, May, June, August, and October each year.
  • Visitors should apply at least 2 weeks before the session starts.

You will have class every day, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM – even if you study part time, you will still need to attend classes in person each day.
Currently, we do not offer evening or weekend classes.

Changing your status to F-1

If you are in the United States as a visitor (B1/B2) and are interested in changing your status to F-1, we can provide you with information on how to do this using a lawyer in the USA.
Please contact us via email at inpie@iu.edu for more information on how to apply for a change of status within the United States.
