Joseph and Lillian Zeglin Scholarship in the Humanities
Overview
Established in honor of Joseph and Lillian Zeglin by their daughter, Dr. Peg Zeglin Brand and her husband Myles Brand. This scholarship will be awarded to undergraduate students in the Humanities, with preference given to women. The number, amount and recipient(s) will be determined by the Scholarship Selection Committee of the School.
Selection Criteria
Applicant must be an IU Indianapolis undergraduate student with a declared major in Liberal Arts with an academic and intellectual commitment to and excellence in the humanities.
Recipients will receive the scholarship during the academic year following their selection (and therefore must have at least one year remaining prior to graduation).
Humanities include but are not limited to English (Writing, Literature, Film Studies, etc.), History (including Classical Studies), Philosophy, Religious Studies, and World Languages and Cultures.
Application will include one or more faculty letters of recommendation (if submitting additional letters may be from individuals other than faculty) and will submit an essay that addresses academic, intellectual, and professional interests in the humanities. (maximum 600 words)
In selecting recipients, the committee will consider coursework and transcript (GPA and content), publications, co-curricular activity, intentions for graduate or professional goals. Preference will be given to women, but all students in the humanities may apply.
