P.E. MacAllister Political Science Scholarship

Overview

This scholarship was created by P.E. MacAllister, a prominent businessman, civic leader, and philanthropist to support undergraduate students who are majoring in political science or law and have demonstrated financial need. P.E. funded this scholarship in honor of his dear friend, Jim Morris, when he became heavily involved in Indianapolis politics in the 1960s and met Jim Morris who served as former Mayor Richard Lugar's chief of staff from 1967 to 1973. Jim Morris was the vice chairman of Pacers Sports and Entertainment until he died in 2024 and was especially important to IU Indianapolis as a member of the IU Board of Trustees.

Selection Criteria

Recipient will be majoring in Political Science or Law in Liberal Arts in the IU School of Liberal Arts. Students must demonstrate academic excellence and preference will be given to those with financial need. The department bases its selection on superior scholastic achievement, demonstrated potential for intellectual growth, faculty recommendations, and special contributions to the Political Science Department.
